Auxiliary Skids

Pioneer Energy offers Gas Filtering, Heating & Manifolding Skids (i.e. Auxiliary or Aux Skids), intended either to be used as standalone modules or in conjunction with Pioneer’s field gas conditioning systems. The skids are fully customizable, but the standard configuration includes a duplex basket strainer, a coalescing filter, a line heater and control system to maintain a consistent gas output temperature, inlet and outlet manifolds offering multiple individually valved flange connections, and temperature, pressure and flow measurement.

A typical implementation involves fueling field equipment (such as frac engines) with a combination of field gas and CNG. The Aux Skid allows the gas consumer to preferentially make use of field gas, for example, and fail over and/or augment with the secondary gas source (i.e. CNG). The fuel gas from either source is filtered through a basket strainer and coalescing filter prior to being heated to a desired target temperature for ideal consumption by the engines. An output manifold allows distribution to multiple fuel gas consumers.

The standard configuration is provided as a ruggedized skid package typically 20’ or shorter in length, with both crane lifting points and forklift slots enabling rapid deployment at field locations. It accepts gas inputs between 50 and 220 psi (assumes CNG input post decompression skid) and can accommodate output flow rates up to 900 Mscfd. The system can be easily paralleled or the design customized to provide greater capacity.

An onboard touch panel display allows field configuration of setpoints and monitoring of sensor data. Data can be output via Modbus TCP to users onsite, including to the frac data van or can be captured by a Pioneer gas conditioning system if present, for data logging and remote configuration.
